News: Passenger dies after van crash on I-376 near Monroeville
ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA — One person died Thursday morning after a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 376 near Monroeville, according to WPXI.
The fatal wreck occurred on the eastbound lanes (Parkway East) at Exit 85, near the onramp to the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Interstate 76). It was first reported by WPXI at 6:10 a.m.
An early investigation by Pennsylvania State Police indicates the driver of a passenger van failed to maintain their lane. As the van lost control, it collided with a guide rail and traveled down an embankment.
A passenger in the van was pronounced deceased, confirmed officials. It was unclear whether the driver or anyone else were seriously injured.
The ramp was shut down during the emergency response but has since reopened to traffic.
No further information has been disclosed at this time.
