News: 1 dead after multi-vehicle wreck on I-376 EB in east Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH, PA — One person died Wednesday morning after a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 376 in east Pittsburgh, reports CBS Pittsburgh.
The fatal accident occurred on the eastbound lanes (Penn-Lincoln Parkway) near the Squirrel Hill Tunnel. It was first reported at around 6:00 a.m.
Few details have been released at this time, but Pennsylvania State Police said two passenger cars and a tractor-trailer were involved.
One involved driver suffered critical injuries and was rushed to UPMC Mercy Hospital where they later died.
Officials have not disclosed the condition of the other parties involved.
A section of the parkway was blocked during the emergency response and initial investigation but has since been reopened.
The cause of the collision remains unclear. No other information has been made available as of this writing.
