News: 2 arrested after pursuit ends in downtown Pittsburgh crash
PITTSBURGH, PA — Two men were taken into custody Wednesday evening after a police pursuit led to a crash in downtown Pittsburgh, reports WPXI.
Authorities said the wreck occurred at the corner of Fort Pitt Boulevard and Stanwix Street.
Shortly before 5:00 p.m., detectives spotted a man with an active federal drug warrant at a gas station off Beechwood Boulevard and Browns Hill Road. A second man was seen exiting one vehicle and getting into the warrant suspect’s vehicle. After the detectives approached the two men, the suspect’s vehicle sped off. As it entered the parkway, one detective was nearly hit.
The fleeing vehicle went on to hit or sideswipe at least two other vehicles before it left the parkway. It was then involved in a crash at Fort Pitt Boulevard and Stanwix Street.
The two male occupants, both of Hazelwood, were apprehended and booked into Allegheny County Jail. Charges are currently pending.
No injuries have been reported.
Police noted both of the men’s vehicles were taken to be processed for narcotics.
