News: 3 killed, dozens injured after massive vehicle pile-up on I-81

POTTSVILLE, PA – At least three people died and many were injured following a pile-up of more than 50 vehicles in northeast Pennsylvania on Monday.

According to KDKA, the crash happened around 10:30 a.m. on I-81 in Schuylkill County. An initial investigation into the massive collision has led authorities to believe low visibility due to weather conditions was a contributing factor.

Police believe 50-60 vehicles were involved including multiple tractor-trailers which were on fire when crews arrived.

Three fatalities were reported and around 20 people were taken to area hospitals. Those numbers could rise as crews continue the recovery effort.
