News: Driver hospitalized after car crashes into home in Pittsburgh’s Spring Hill
PITTSBURGH, PA — An 82-year-old woman was injured late Wednesday afternoon when she crashed her car into a residence in north Pittsburgh, reports WPXI.
The accident occurred in the 2100 block of Harbor Street, in the city’s Spring Hill City View neighborhood. Allegheny County police, fire crews, and medics were all called to the scene at about 4:30 p.m.
An early investigation indicates the female driver was trying to reverse into her own steep driveway. She is believed to have had her car in “drive,” instead of “reverse,” causing the vehicle to crash down a hill. The car then overturned and hit a residence below.
Photos taken at the scene show the vehicle rolled onto its roof, and the roof of the home’s porch partially collapsed over it.
First responders rushed the driver to a local hospital. The extent of her injuries was not shared, but family members said she has no broken bones and is expected to make a recovery.
No further details have been released at this time.
