News: Injuries reported after wreck on I-279 in north Pittsburgh
ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA — At least one person was hurt Wednesday morning due to a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 279 in north Pittsburgh, according to WPXI.
The accident occurred on the southbound lanes of I-279 (Parkway North) near the exit to Hazlett Street. It was first reported shortly after 5:52 a.m.
Few details have been shared at this time, but Pennsylvania State Police were on the scene where as many as six vehicles were involved. One patient was transported to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries.
A traffic backup had built up on the southbound parkway, but by 7:00 a.m., the scene was cleared from the roadway.
As of this writing, authorities have not shared the cause of the crash.
