News: Motorcyclist dies after clipping SUV on I-70 in Washington
WASHINGTON COUNTY, PA — A 71-year-old man was fatally injured Thursday afternoon when he ejected from his motorcycle during a crash on Interstate 70 in Washington, reports WPXI.
The accident happened on a stretch of I-70 between the Murtland Avenue and Jefferson Avenue exits. Washington County dispatchers received the call shortly before 3:00 p.m.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the man was operating a motorcycle when he entered I-70 from the I-79 offramp. As the motorcyclist merged into the center lane, the bike struck the rear passenger side of a Ford Explorer. The contact caused the rider to separate from the motorcycle and slide a considerable distance.
The victim, identified as Fred Blake Jr., was rushed to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased, confirmed officials.
No other major injuries were reported.
Authorities have not released further information indicating a possible cause of the fatal crash.
