News: Teen motorcyclist dies after crash on PA-28 ramp to Veterans Bridge
PITTSBURGH, PA — An 18-year-old from Florida died Wednesday afternoon after a motorcycle crash on a Veterans Bridge onramp in Pittsburgh, reports WPXI.
The wreck occurred on the ramp connecting westbound Route 28 to Veterans Bridge (Interstate 579), in the East Allegheny area. Dispatchers first received the call shortly before 1:00 p.m.
It remains unclear what caused the crash, but first responders arrived to find the rider on the bridge. The motorcycle, which had been pushed over the guide rail, had fallen about 50 feet down onto Route 28.
The teen was rushed to UPMC Mercy, where he later succumbed to his injuries. He has since been identified as Carson Glasier, of Fort Myers, Florida.
Pittsburgh Police and Pennsylvania State Police had all lanes in both directions blocked during the response.
An investigation remains ongoing.
