News: Woman injured as fleeing vehicle crashes into home in Beltzhoover area
PITTSBURGH, PA — A woman was hospitalized early Monday after being hit by a vehicle that crashed through her home in south Pittsburgh, according to WPXI.
The incident occurred at a residence located near Michigan and Montooth streets, in the city’s Beltzhoover neighborhood. Pittsburgh Police responded to the scene shortly after 3:00 a.m.
Authorities said officers had tried to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle but its driver sped away. Moments later, the fleeing vehicle slammed into the living room of a nearby house.
A woman who was on the ground floor of the home was hit and pinned under the vehicle. After being extricated by first responders, the victim was transported to an area hospital. Officials said she was listed in stable condition.
Two people who were on the home’s second level at the time of the crash had to be rescued using a ladder but neither were reported hurt in the event.
No information on the driver has been released at this time.
