News: Woman killed in crash on W 7th Ave near West Homestead
ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA — A 52-year-old woman died early Thursday after a single-car wreck that left a man seriously hurt near West Homestead, reports WPXI.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner said the fatal accident occurred in the 600 block of West Seventh Avenue. It was first reported at about 12:48 a.m.
Details remain limited, but authorities said the woman, who was a passenger, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. She was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The male driver, who had to be extricated from the wreckage, was rushed to a local hospital.
At this time, investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash.
Footage taken at the scene show significant damage to the vehicle, a passenger car. Chief John Dindak with the West Homestead Volunteer Fire Department noted debris could be found over 300 feet beyond the crash site.
A section of the road was blocked for an extended time during the crash clearance.
