About Betsy Ingraham
Betsy Ingraham is a seasoned trial attorney with over twenty years of practice spanning Connecticut’s plaintiff, defense, and public sectors. Before joining Chaffin Luhana, Betsy built her career representing individuals and institutions in high-stakes matters in state and federal courts. Now, she brings that depth of experience to bear on behalf of survivors and families navigating some of the most complex and consequential cases of their lives.
Betsy’s career is defined by her command of the courtroom. She has first-chaired more than twenty trials to verdict, including multiple seven-figure plaintiff’s results. Her trial experience includes cases involving sexual abuse, sexual harassment, institutional negligence, civil rights, and serious personal injury, and she has a proven track record of achieving significant results for survivors of violence and institutional misconduct both in and out of the courtroom . Betsy has also argued multiple cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, as well as the Connecticut Supreme and Appellate Courts. Her experience on both sides of the courtroom gives her a rare and powerful understanding of how cases are built, defended, and won.
At Chaffin Luhana, Betsy focuses her practice on complex mass tort litigation and institutional sexual abuse cases. She is deeply committed to advocating for survivors of abuse and institutional misconduct, bringing both strategic precision and genuine compassion to every client relationship. Betsy understands that behind every case is a person whose life has been disrupted, and she is known for her ability to connect with clients navigating trauma while relentlessly pursuing accountability on their behalf. She treats every case as if it were her only one.
Prior to her career in private practice, Betsy served for eight years as an Associate City Attorney in Bridgeport, where she handled some of the most high-profile civil litigation in the city’s history, including a thirty-year federal consent decree involving racial discrimination in police hiring and promotion. This public service background instilled a lasting commitment to justice and accountability that continues to drive her work today.
Betsy received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she was the Dorothy Archibald Clark Scholar. She earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Connecticut on a full merit scholarship as a Nutmeg Scholar.
When she’s not working, Betsy is a devoted mother to her two children, an avid home cook with a passion for olive oil and Italian cuisine, and a lifelong fan of musical theater. She lives in Connecticut with her husband, children, and their beloved rescue dog, Ranger.
