Jessica Szumla

Jessica has been with Chaffin Luhana since 2015 and currently serves as the firm’s lead paralegal on Hip Implant, Testosterone Replacement Therapy, Pradaxa, PFOA, ZOLL LifeVest, and Medtronic MiniMed Infusion Sets litigations. Additionally, she has worked on Bellwether Trial cases in the Testosterone Replacement Therapy and Pradaxa litigations. Jessica truly enjoys working with the firm’s clients from case investigation through case resolution. Jessica received her bachelor’s degree from Wesley College in Dover, DE. She started her career in the legal field as a legal assistant at a plaintiff’s firm, where she handled various personal injury, workers’ compensation, and Social Security disability cases.  

Before joining Chaffin Luhana, Jessica worked as a paralegal in a Baltimore law firm handling toxic tort and asbestos claims. Jessica has volunteered assisting patients in an eating disorders program in the past and currently volunteers as a Hotline Responder with healingSPACE in Bergen County, New Jersey. She is originally from Baltimore and now resides in Hudson County, New Jersey with her husband. Jessica enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, and traveling in her free time.  

Charity Nominations

2018-2021: Jessica nominated HealingSPACE at the YWCA of Bergen County, New Jersey. Jessica currently volunteers at HealingSPACE and assists in providing support to victims of sexual abuse. Her contributions will fund the variety of services to survivors and their loved ones, such as a 24-hour anonymous hotline, counseling and accompaniments for survivors to medical appointments.
