About Roopal Luhana
Roopal P. Luhana is a nationally recognized litigator and Founding Partner of Chaffin Luhana, where she focuses on high-stakes mass tort, product liability, and complex personal-injury litigation on behalf of individuals and communities harmed by corporate misconduct.
Roopal’s parents migrated their family from India to the United States when Roopal was 5 to give their children a better life. Roopal credits her parents for instilling in her the drive, compassion, and relentless work ethic that defines her career today. Those values fuel her daily mission: to stand up for people and families harmed by dangerous products and corporate negligence. In 2010, Roopal co-founded Chaffin Luhana, building a nationally recognized plaintiffs-only law firm committed to excellence, integrity, and innovation.
Over the course of her career, Roopal has helped secure billions of dollars in recoveries for plaintiffs in some of the largest and most impactful mass tort and complex litigation matters in the country. She is widely respected for her strategic leadership, meticulous case development, and ability to translate complex scientific, medical, and data-driven evidence into compelling narratives.
Roopal has played key leadership roles in national and coordinated proceedings involving defective pharmaceutical and medical products, environmental contamination, and large-scale institutional negligence. Her work spans federal MDLs, state-court JCCPs, and coordinated mass-tort programs across the United States, where she is frequently entrusted with responsibilities involving discovery strategy, expert development, case-selection frameworks, and trial readiness.
Roopal’s numerous court-appointed leadership roles in high-stakes litigation include:
- Co-Lead Counsel in the In Re: Uber Technologies, Inc., Passenger Sexual Assault Litigation (Charles R. Breyer, N.D. Cal.) – a landmark MDL seeking justice for survivors of sexual assault.
- Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in the Re: Camp LeJeune Water Litigation (E.D.N.C.).
- Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee in the In re: Paraquat Products Liability Litigation (Nancy J. Rosenstengel, S.D. Ill).

- Chair of the Law & Briefing Committee in In re: Denture Cream Products Liability Litigation.
Roopal has been widely recognized for her leadership and her advocacy for women and minorities in the legal profession. She was a featured panelist at the 2017 Duke Law Conference on “Increasing the Number of Women and Minority Lawyers Appointed to Leadership Positions in Class Actions and MDLs” and contributed to drafting Multi-District Litigation (MDL) Best Practices for federal judges.
Beyond the courtroom, Roopal is deeply committed to mentorship, firm culture, and community impact. She is an advocate for building sustainable plaintiff-side practices that combine trial excellence with operational discipline, teamwork, and a clear mission of accountability and justice. She is also actively involved in philanthropic and community initiatives aligned with the firm’s ethos of Doing Good by Doing Right™.
Roopal resides with her family in Brooklyn, New York with her husband and two daughters. When Roopal is not working on cases or with her clients, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and inspiring her daughters with the same values of hard work, integrity, and compassion that shaped her own journey.
