About Chaffin Luhana

Eric Chaffin was raised in a working-class family outside Pittsburgh, where his mother taught him compassion and his father taught him perseverance and hard work. One childhood moment shaped everything that came after. Following a steel mill arbitration, he watched his father, there as a union witness, extend his hand to the company lawyer only to be dismissed. His father later shared that story with Eric as a reminder to respect every person, to remember his roots, and to never treat people the way that lawyer had.

Eric went on to build a distinguished career at an international law firm and later as a federal prosecutor in New York. Over time, he felt called to use his case-building and prosecutorial experience to help individuals rather than corporations. He wanted to build a practice centered on dignity, honesty, and the kind of care his father taught him to value. That belief ultimately guided him toward plaintiffs’ work and set him on the path that would later intersect with Roopal’s.

Roopal’s sense of purpose began long before she entered the legal profession. She grew up in a community where people looked out for one another, and she watched her parents work tirelessly to create opportunities for their family. Those early experiences taught her that when someone is relying on you, you give them your absolute best. 

She carried that belief into her first legal position in the New Jersey court system, where she supported the state’s only solo mass tort judge. There, she saw firsthand how deeply an injury can disrupt a person’s life and how powerful strong, thoughtful advocacy can be. She knew this was the work she was meant to do. That commitment to standing with people during their most vulnerable moments is what ultimately brought her together with Eric to build a firm grounded in shared values.

When Eric and Roopal met, they recognized an immediate alignment in how they viewed the law and the people it serves. They shared a belief that every client deserves honesty, respect, and unwavering care, and that legal excellence means nothing without humanity at its core.

Chaffin Luhana was created from that shared conviction. Doing Good by Doing Right(TM) is not just the firm’s motto. It is the principle that guides every case, every client relationship, and every member of the team. 

Founded in 2010, the Chaffin Luhana Foundation reinvests a portion of the firm’s revenue directly into organizations, research, and scholarship programs that strengthen our communities.
