The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Route 28 between Millvale Avenue and Etna Avenue in Shaler Township, Allegheny County.
Crash Details
Authorities report that a woman driving a minivan entered Route 28 heading north in the southbound lanes and struck another vehicle head-on. There were 8 children in the van, aged 1 to 11 years old; at least four of them were not properly restrained. The other vehicle carried two adult occupants.
Victims & Severity of Injuries
All 11 people—8 children and 3 adults—were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries. None of the injuries have been reported as life-threatening.
Investigation Status
So far, there is no indication that either driver was impaired. Officials noted that the woman driving the minivan did not have a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license. The cause of the wrong-way entry is being investigated.
