BUTLER TOWNSHIP, PA — Two people, including a child, were hospitalized Wednesday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash in Butler Township, according to local reports from Butler Radio.
Crash Details and Location
The collision occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Delwood Road near the Benjamin Franklin Highway overpass. Authorities say the crash involved two passenger vehicles and led to a significant emergency response from local police, fire, and EMS crews.
Sequence of Events
Preliminary findings indicate that a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Michelle Deballo of Butler attempted to make a right turn and crossed into the center lane, where it collided with another vehicle driven by 48-year-old Micah Nelson of New York. The impact caused considerable damage to both vehicles and temporarily blocked portions of the roadway as responders cleared the scene.
Injuries and Medical Response
Deballo and her passenger, a 12-year-old child, were transported to Butler Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries. Thankfully, both are expected to recover. The second driver, Nelson, was reportedly uninjured in the crash. No citations or charges have been confirmed as of this time.
Investigation and Contributing Factors
Authorities are continuing to investigate the exact cause of the crash. Factors under review may include driver distraction, road conditions, or a possible misjudgment during the attempted turn. Traffic was disrupted for some time while crews worked to tow the damaged vehicles and restore normal flow.
Legal Rights for Crash Victims
When drivers or passengers are injured in accidents caused by another motorist’s error or negligence, they may be entitled to compensation. Damages can cover medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other accident-related expenses.
