Washington property damage & injury claim follows an incident in Washington County where an SUV driven by an elderly woman crashed into a Dairy Queen after a pedal mix-up, causing damage and minor injuries.
When & Where It Happened
The crash occurred shortly after 4:00 p.m. on East Wylie Avenue. Washington County crews were called to the scene after the vehicle plowed through a brick wall and partially entered the restaurant.
Driver & Injuries
An 84-year-old woman was driving the SUV and reported having mistaken the accelerator for the brake. She was trapped in her vehicle but was later pulled out by first responders. She suffered minor injuries and declined hospital transport.
Damage & Narrow Escape
The vehicle slammed through a brick wall and stopped just about four feet from where two employees had been standing inside. No one inside the restaurant was hurt. The restaurant owner expects to reopen after repairs.
Investigation & Insurance
Washington County police are investigating the circumstances of the crash. The store owner said the driver’s insurance is expected to cover the repairs. Damage estimates have not been released yet.
